I consider the Netherlands and Holland to be the same country, so I will put any breeds said to be from Holland under the Netherlands.  If I find that Holland, like Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, was a different piece of land from the modern country, I will make a separate page for it.
Interestingly, in addition to the above-mentioned breeds and various imported ones, I have also found mention of a Holland horse, a Military horse, and a Drenthe horse.  If anyone has any information on these breeds apparently native to Holland, please contact me!  Thanks!
Friesian horse:  A breed of heavy draft horses indigenous to Holland, raised mainly in the province of Friesland.  The color is always black, although a small star is sometimes present.  In this breed the mane and tail are never trimmed or docked.  Another, heavier breed of the same country is called the Dutch draft.  Its colors are bay, chestnut, or grey, with black rarely being seen.  A third breed is the East Friesian, a tall horse of 68 inches or over.
