Names:  Dutch Warmblood.

Origin:  

Breeding:  This horse derives from two much older Dutch breeds, the Gelderland and the Groningen, with infusions of blood from the English Thoroughbred and stallions from the principle breeds of riding horses in France and Germany.  The Stud Book of this breed goes back to 1958 and is held by the Dutch Warmblood Society.

Description:  A horse of the meso-dolichomorphic type.

Back:  Straight.

Chest:  Broad and deep.

Color:  Bay, brown, black, chestnut or gray.

Croup:  Slightly sloping.

Ears:  A nice size and mobile.

Head:  Well-proportioned with a wide forehead.

Hooves:  Well-proportioned, with solid horn.

Legs:  Strong and well-muscled, with broad, clean joints, long forearms, and strong tendons.

Loins:  Powerful.

Neck:  A good length, muscular and well set-on.

Profile:  Straight or slightly convex.

Shoulder:  Long and sloping.

Size:  Approximately 16.2 hands (1.62 meters).

Tail:  Well set-on.

Withers:  Prominent.

Temperament:  Quiet and willing.

Features:  Good jumper.  Gifted with a particularly supple, flowing action that adds greatly to its attractive appearance.

Uses:  Riding horse; light draft.

Accomplishments:  Distinguished in the field of sport.
