Names:  Jaf.

Origin: 

Breeding:  Bred in Kurdistan, the Jaf is derived from the Persian (Arab) and therefore of Arab type.  One source called it an Arab-like, Persian and Turkish breed.

Description:  The Jaf has Arabian characteristics, and is said to be more highly regarded than the Darashouli, being used to harsh desert conditions.

Color:  Bay, brown, chestnut, or gray; black is rare.

Hooves:  Exceptionally hard.

Size:  Around or just over 15 hands (1.52 meters).

Temperament:  Gentle.

Features:  Spirited, tough, wiry desert horse with great stamina.  Hardy and enduring.

Uses:  Riding.
