Darashouli

Names:  Darashouli, Darashoulri.  I believe this is the same as the Darashouri and possibly also the Shirazi, so unless I learn otherwise, I will treat them all here.  I will call it the Darashouli, though, as that name is the most familiar to me.

Origin: 

Breeding:  Bred in the state of Fars in southern Iran, the Darashouli is derived from the Persian (Arab) and therefore of Arab type.

Description:  The Darashouli has Arabian characteristics, and is said to be more elegant than the Jaf.

Action:  Surefooted and "as though on springs."

Color:  Varies from chestnut to bay or gray; black is rare.

Ears:  Tightly pricked, "scimitar" ears.

Eyes:  Generous.

Neck:  Superbly arched.

Size:  About 15 hands (1.52 meters).

Tail:  Plumed.

Temperament:  

Features:  Spirited, with good stamina.

Uses:  They are said to make excellent mountain horses.

Profiles:  Shabrang:  coal black Darashouli stallion; said to be the fifth fastest horse in the (Iranian) Royal Stud.  (I don't know if that was a sarcastic comment, or if he was actually performance-tested to prove it!)
