What interesting places are there to see near you?   Near Tracy City, TN there are many natural wilderness area, state parks, scenic locations, historic places of interest and entertainment attractions within driving distance for one day trips or over night and weekend trips..Right in town we have an old bakery making traditional German baked food items.  We have Grundy Lakes for waking and swimming, with the old coke ovens on site of historical interest.  About an hour's drive away there is the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga.  Chickamauga Battlefield is just south of the city into Georgia.  Toward North Carolina is the Smokies National Park and to the north is Fall Creek Falls State Park.

.. What is the climate like where you live? (example: average rainfall, temperatures, variations in weather)   Where we live the winters are mild and wet, the spring brings color and life to bare branches and drab hills.  Summers are hot and muggy and buggy.  Fall is the season I like best because the weather is cool and crisp and it is not usually rainy.

.. What is the land like where you live?  (example:  mountains, plains, etc.)    The land has mountains and valleys. Of special interest is the formation of the Sequatchie Valley which they say is translated the 'pig's trough.'  The Tennessee River is not far from our home and it's valley provides farmland and recreation of many types of interest.

.. Are there any interesting plants or animals in your area?  If so, please tell me about them. The deer and bear, coyotes and skunks, raccoons and opossums form most of the wild life in the area.  We have lots of birds and frogs, fish and insects, too.   The flora (plants) are wide and varied here because of the fact that we are located where many weather and geographical types come together so they share some of their characteristics with us.

.. What natural resources are found in your area?  Tennessee has abundant sources of water power, wood in forests, good soil for farming and raising livestock.  It has mineral resources of coal, gas, and oil, though the last two have not been explored   to any extent.

.. Anything else you think might be of interest.  Tennessee has a wide and varied historical and geographical input into the development and growth of  the United States of America over the last three centuries.  I personally have relatives that came from England in the early sixteen hundreds. Some of them ended up in the Grassy Cove area around the time of the Civil War so I have a interest in the history of this area from a personal stand point.
