Aa gradient (alveolar arterial gradient): It’s the difference between the measured pressure of oxygen in the blood stream and the calculated pressure of oxygen in the alveolar sacs. It can be looked at as a measure of how well oxygen gets from air into blood. The higher the A-a gradient, the more problem there is with oxygen passage into the blood. |
ANA: Staining Pattern |
Blood lab: White blood cell count (white count, WBC), platelets (platelet count), 17-ketosteroids, plasma GHEA |
Coagulation workup: protein C, protein S, prothrombin 2021OA. |
Lab tests-need sorted to blood or urine, etc.: Sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate (bicarbs), BUN, creatinine, glucose, PT, INR, PTT, ammonia, total bili, alkaline phosphatase (alka phos), AST, ALT, LDH, amylase, CPK, troponin, hematocrit, haptoglobin, CBC with diff, peripheral smear, LDH, direct bili, hemoglobin, CBK1 |
helical ("spiral") CT scan is now the best overall study for diagnosis and preoperative staging. It provides information about the nature and site of the lesion (e.g., pancreatic vs. other periampullary tumors, bile duct tumors), its resectability (e.g., liver metastases, vascular invasion), and vascular anatomy. It is important to stress that the helical CT is the current state of the art. |
