John Thomas McFarland
Born: January 2, 1851, Mount Vernon, Indiana.
Died: 1913, at his home in New Jersey.
McFarland was Secretary of the Board of Sunday Schools in New York City. It is said his successor asked him to write the third stanza of Away in a Manger.
