Indiana

Arcadia -- 1. I live in Arcadia, Indiana, USA, North America.

                  2. I’m not a good one to answer this question - we don’t go much but I am told in Indianapolis there are museums and art galleries and other places of great interest to go visit.

                  3. I’m also sorry I cannot tell you the average rainfall for the area but my guess would be 20 to 30+ inches a year. The climate is quite mild compared to some areas I’ve lived in. In the winter it can get down to zero and sometimes a little below, but usually that is of short duration. 20’s and 30’s are more common winter time temperatures. We don’t get that much snow - sometimes eight or ten inches will fall at one time, causing quite a stir among snow plow drivers! In March of 1991, an ice storm occurred that felled many, many trees, power lines and broke the tops out of many trees. Today is a good day to tell you about summer-time! It is 91 today and humid. Two weeks ago it was in the 90’s and then a cool front came down from the NW and by evening it was in the 60’s. Then 70’s for a day or so, then back up into the high 80’s and up again to 90+. This spring we had so much rain the farmers despaired of getting crops in. Crops were planted late, and are growing beautifully now, but there has been no rain for a week and they don’t predict any as far ahead as they can see!! SO you see, our weather is quite varied. Fall is usually a BEAUTIFUL time of year - the leaves turn magnificent colors and it is cooler and refreshing.

                  4. The land is mostly flat here, but here and there are some beautiful shallow valley areas especially along the rivers.

                  5. All plants and most animals are interesting to me. While walking through a nearby 2 acre, wooded plot one spring, we found every kind of wild flower that Indiana boasts. I don’t believe there are any unusual wild flowers - but most every kind that is found in the mid-west grows here. The animals are fairly common too - cows, horses, pigs, goats are the most commonly grown "farm" animals. I’ve seen a few llamas in pens, and even some ostriches. Wild animals are fairly common to the mid-west, also.

                  6. This is the Heartland of America. Farming is the main "industry" here. Main crops are field/seed corn and soy beans. In Kokomo, just 20 miles North of us, there are several very large car manufacturers.

                  7. Now you are getting out of my area of expertise. Natural resources?

                  8. We enjoy living in Indiana. The climate is good - we love to be able to see "as far as the eye can see". There are enough areas of woods and trees, to make the land beautiful, along with the huge, flat fields of crops.
