Folliott Sanford Pierpoint

Born:  October 7, 1835, Spa Villa, Bath, England.

Died:  March 10, 1917, Newport, Monmouthshire, England.

    Pierpoint graduated from Queen’s College, Cambridge University, in 1857, and later taught classics at Somersetshire College. He later lived at Babbicombe, Devonshire, and elsewhere, and occasionally taught. His works include:

• The Chalice of Nature and Other Poems (undated, but reissued in 1878 as Songs of Love, the Chalice of Nature, and Lyra Jesu)
