Peleg

Name: Named Peleg, meaning "division," because "in his days was the earth divided." The Greek spelling is Phalec. While this is never clearly stated, I believe this implies that it was during Peleg's time that God confused the languages of the builders of the tower of Babel. What is not clear to me is whether it happened before Peleg was born and so his father named him that, or if possibly he took a new name, as did Jacob when God named him Israel. I tend to believe that probably it took place shortly before his birth, but I'm not sure there is any way to discover the actual date of that event.
