Marie of Champagne
Parents: Eleanor of Aquitaine.
Other: As Countess, she established a Court of Love at Troyes, where Andreas Cappelanus was probably chaplain to the court. Andreas intended his manual, The Art of Courtly Love, as a portrayal of the Poitiers court of Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, as it was between 1170 and 1174. Commissioned by Countess Marie, the manual is a codification of the etiquette of love.
