Abram
Born: By the time Terah was 70 years old.
Name: God gave him the name Abraham, meaning "father of a great multitude," when he was 99 years old.
Parents: Terah.
Siblings: Nahor, Haran, and Sarai.
Married: Sarai, his half sister; Hagar, Sarai's Egyptian handmaid; and Keturah.
Children: Ishmael (with Hagar); Isaac (with Sarah); Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah (with Keturah); apparently in that order. Genesis 25:6 also mentions "the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had"; considering the specific mention of the three women above as wives, it is possible that this verse refers to other children than the ones named.
Other: There
follows a list of some of the peoples of the time of Abraham.
During his time lived "Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch
king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Nations";
"Bera king of Sodom . . . Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah . . .
Shemeber
king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar."
There is mention of "the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim .
. . the Zuzims in Ham . . . the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim, and the Horites in
their mount Seir . . . ." There is, of course, reference to the
Amalekites and the Amorites.
At one time he lived "in the plain
of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were
confederate with Abram." There is also a
"Melchizedek king of Salem."
He had a servant named "Eliezer of Damascus," and
God said He would give him the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites,
Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaims, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites, and Jebusites.
Died: Lived 175 years; was buried by his sons Isaac and Ishmael in the cave of Machpelah, with his wife Sarah.
