Description: With their heavy heads, thick ears, long bodies and dull dispositions, Poitevin horses appear to have few attractions.
Temperament:
Features: Their large feet were useful on the marshy ground where the Dutch were the first to bring them.
Uses: Crossed with the Baudet de Poitu, the large local jackass, Poitevin mares are invaluable for producing big, first-class mules, some of them over 16 hands.
