Names: Nordland, Northland Pony. I have chosen to give the more Norwegian-looking name, Nordland.
Origin: Very similar to the now extinct breed once found on the Lofoten Islands, but outside Norway few people have heard of it.
Breeding: From time to time, some southern breeds (warmblood) have been introduced, but as often happens under the rigorous climatic conditions of the North, this has had little effect upon the breed.
Description: To look at, not unlike the Icelandic.
Color: Usually dark-colored.
Ears: Small and pricked.
Eyes: Widely spaced.
Size: 13 hands.
