Lundy Pony

Names: Lundy Pony. Named after Lundy Island where they originated.
Origin: New Forest mares, Galloways (an extinct Highland strain) and some Arabian blood produced a type of pony that runs semi-wild on Lundy Island, off Devon's west coast.
Breeding: A mixed breed of ponies native to Lundy Island, off the coast of Devonshire, England. Presumably the breed has died out, since it is not included among the nine pony breeds recognized in the British Isles today.
Description: Characteristically thick, protective skins instead of shaggy coats.
Temperament:
Features: Hardy and good-tempered. The island's numerous granite blocks and briar clumps have made them natural jumpers.
