Finnish Draft
Introduction: I believe this picture is of a Finnish Draft. If I find a better one later, I will exchange it. If you have any comments or suggestions, please click here.
Names: Finnish Draft. It seems that this has melded into the Finnish horse, but I will keep a separate page for it because it evidently used to be a breed in its own right.
Origin:
Breeding:
Description: Medium-weight.
Color: Generally colored bay or brown, and now only rarely black.
Size: About 15.2 hands.
Temperament:
Features:
Uses: Today these sturdy horses are gradually disappearing; their usefulness for all kinds of heavy farm work and for draft work has now been superseded by machines. (This was evidently written before I began citing dates for my sources so I don't know when "today" was; my guess is that it was the 1970's or 80's.)
