Falabella Miniature Horse

Names: Falabella, Falabella Pony, Falabella Miniature Horse. The latter is really the correct name; I'll use the shorter word for it!
Origin: Comes from Argentina. About 1930, a new breed was established in the Buenos Aires province of Falabellas, now a stud of these miniature horses.
Breeding: They began with a very small Thoroughbred, followed by successive small-size breeding with an occasional Shetland cross to help.
Description: A miniature horse; not very strong.
Color: Any color, including spots.
Hair: Long, silky coat.
Size: Less than 7 hands.
Temperament: Good natured. Intelligent and docile.
Features: Hardy.
Uses: Popular children's pet and driving pony.
