Avelignese

Names: Avelignese. This seems to be the Italian version of the Austrian Haflinger. In fact, I have frequently heard the two mentioned together; however, the Haflinger seems to be the better known. I have found the Avelignese listed as a draft, a horse, and a pony! I think I will list it as a horse for now until I know more about it!
Origin:
Breeding: Bred mainly in Tuscany, in northern Italy.
Description: Short and muscular. Basically the same as the Austrian Haflinger.
Color: Usually chestnut.
Neck: Heavy.
Size: About 14.2 hands.

Uses: Once used as a pack pony or light draft horse.
