8.. Anything else you think might be of interest. The Czechoslovak Republic
was formed in 1918. The President was T.G. Masaryk. I recently heard that a
monument of him will be made soon in Washington D.C. Communism came to power in
1948. A famous time in Czech history is called "Prague Spring" in 1968.
The Czech Republic was trying to develop a different, more democratic form of
Communism, however the Soviet Union didn't allow that to fully happen. Communism
fell in 1989. In the Czech Republic it was called the "Velvet Revolution".
In 1992, when the Slovak and Czech Republics split it was called the "Velvet
Divorce". The Czech Republic is the second most secular country in the world
(after Albania). The majority of people are atheists. The Czech Republic is a
great place though. It is very beautiful, the people are very interesting
and it has a long exciting history. I hope that you can visit here someday.
